Vacuum Infusion

Being a core member of the AreoBody Midnight Sun Team means lots of hands on practice for vacuum infusions! The practice of vacuum infusion is a meticulous process that demands precision and careful adherence to each step. A carbon fiber fabric is strategically laid out in the desired mold, and tape sealant is applied to ensure perfect vacuum. Evacuating air through the vacuum pump initiates the resin infusion process, where atmospheric pressure becomes the driving force behind the thorough saturation of the carbon fiber matrix. As the resin replaces the air, the composite enters the curing phase. After hours of resin curing, the finished product will result in carbon fiber, which will be used on the outside of the solar powered car!
